Colour of the 1st Infantry Regiment - Image by Joe McMillan, 4 May 2009
A onstruction sheet for Turkish Army colors shows the Turkish unit colors are red, 100 x 150 cm, surrounded on the three free
sides by 4.5 cm gold fringe. The field is edged all around by a 3 cm-wide
gold border. A golden quarter-sunburst is centered on the upper hoist
corner; the disk of the sun is filled red, with the monogram "TC" (for Türkiye Cumhuriyeti, Republic of Turkey) inscribed on it. The gold rays extend downward and toward the fly. Over all on the center are the white crescent and star as on the national flag, and near the lower edge the abbreviated title of the unit to which the color belongs (in the illustration, "1nci P.A." is the abbreviation for 1st Infantry Regiment.
The color pike is a total of 3 meters long, including a 16 cm ferrule at the foot and a 34 cm high finial terminating in the crescent and star. The pike is decorated by a gold cord and tassels.
Numerous on-line photographs confirm this design, such as [1] and [2].
